Mathieu Matachaga was born in 1992 in Orange, France.
Mathieu’s passion for confection and design started at a very early age thanks to his Grandmother who was a seamstress

In 2011, he joined  the Atelier Couture-Flou at Azzedine Alaïa as a trainee.

In 2012, he became an apprentice at John Galliano, and studied at «L’Academie Internationale de Coupe de Paris».

In 2014 Mathieu Matachage graduated from «L’Academie Internationale de Coupe de Paris» and continued to work at John Galliano.

Simultaneously, he created his first collection «Il était une fois Bambi», in collaboration with Marie-Pierre Pruvot, aka «Bambi», a Parisian cabarets Icon, immortalized in Sébastien Lifshitz’s documentary. He is invited to present the collection in Mexico City where he decides to stay.

In 2015, Mathieu Matachaga returned to France to design costumes for Antony Hilcking’s film «Where Horses go to die”.

In 2016, he travels to the heart of Mexico and discovers traditional fashion, crafts and cultures from different parts of the country.

In 2017, he presents the collection «Handsome Girls» (Autumn Winter 2017/2018) in Mexico City.

In 2018, he presents two collections :
– “El Rancho” (Spring Summer 2018)
– “Querelle Mon Amour” (2018/2019) accompanied by a Fashion Film, inspired by Fassbinder’s film “Querelle”.

In 2019 : – « Gypsy » – Autumn, winter 2019/2029 – Collection and Fashion Film, inspired by the song “Gypsy”, released by 70s rock band Fleetwood Mac.
